Jane Austen High

Recently I have been on a Jane Austen high. I have watched the newer "Pride and Prejudice," with Keira Knightley.
the old "Pride and Prejudice," with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.
"Sense and Sensibility."
and "Emma."
I have also watched, "Becoming Jane." The story of Jane Austen herself.
I love watching these movies because they get me emotionally attatched to the characters, story, time period, and they are wonderful, classic, clean, chick flick movies! I love watching these movies and admiring the styles they had back then. I love the dresses and nightgowns, and I want to make one for myself. The balls looked like so much fun, and I wish we still had them today. These movies have rubbed their language off on me as well. I find myself sometimes talking in Old English language, or with an English accent. It's so much fun. I am also currently reading "Pride and Prejudice." It is just as good, if not better than the movie.
One of my favorite clips from the newer "Pride and Prejudice," is the final scene after Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are married. I think it's such a cute scene. Watch it for yourself!

I also like in "Becoming Jane," the part where Tom and Jane dance with other partners, but can only keep their eyes on each other. It's the first time they really show they like each other, and it's funny to watch.
These five movies are so entertaining, funny, happy, sad, and just wonderful! I strongly recommend watching them. I'm hoping I can watch the other movies of Jane Austen's novels sometime soon, and eventually read all her books.
Thank you Jane Austen for your inspiring and magnificent novels.

ha ha ha..you're so cute Jessica! I LOVE these highs! I love Sense and Sensibility (I have the entire movie memorized...actually, I think I have most of all of those movies memorized)! If you love these movies you'd also adore North and South (a BBC production...and my all time favorite movie!), Wives and Daughters, Cranford, the newer version of Sense and Sensibility, and Daniel Deronda (all of which are utterly adorable). If you are so enchanted by miss. Austen, then you are bound to fall in an even deeper love for Elizabeth Gaskell (she is my favorite author and is then followed by Jane Austen). You'd also never guess what I have in my possession...a hoopskirt! :) If you ever need to wear a hoopskirt with any of your Jane Austen dresses, let me know. :)

Oh my goodness! I have heard of the BBC production! My neighbor has them and she said I could borrow them anytime I wanted. I haven't had time yet, but I will be sure to watch them when I get the chance. Hmmm... I've never heard of Elizabeth Gaskell... I will have to check in to her. I cannot believe you have a hoopskirt!!! That is basically the best thing I have heard all day! Where on earth did you get it?! That would be so fun to dress up in. :)
