She & Him and Chicken Hearts

On Thursday, Pioneer Park hosted it's final Twilight Concert Series concert, She & Him. I found out a few months ago that Zooey Deschanel was coming and got so excited. The best part... it was free!

{Amy, me, Melissa}

{It was really crowded and hot, and we couldn't see her very well. I had to put my arms above my head to take this picture.}

{She was great, but we left early because Amy got beer poured on her foot and we couldn't breathe from all the people smoking behind us.}

{I loved her dress.}

{On the way back to the Gateway, we found a huge statue of Petunia the pig.}

It was around 9:30 and we were starving, so we went to Tucanos. It was absolutely fantastic. It's a different way of ordering food, but very fun. When you go, make sure to get the Abacaxi (grilled pineapple), mashed potatoes, and Brazilian lemonade. The picture above shows us getting ready to eat a chicken heart. Amy's friend Garrett took the picture then videoed us eating the heart. It was disgusting. We made faces and tried to swallow it down, but it was just too tough. Amy couldn't take it any longer and eventually threw everything up on her plate. (It's a great video). We couldn't stop laughing, but quickly decided to clean up before we got kicked out. It was late, and the restaurant had closed. No one was there, so on our way out the manager gave us free ice cream! It was so nice of him, but I don't know how on earth I ate it. I was about to burst because of all the food I ate. It definitely made for some great memories.

In case you want to hear some of She & Him's music, I put some of their songs randomly throughout my playlist. My personal favorite is, "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here." Enjoy!

Jackson

A couple weeks ago, my family and I went to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was a great week getting away from the world and exploring the outdoors, smelling that freeeeesh country grass. We camped almost the entire week. It was so much fun and we had many adventures. Here's what we did:

  • Went to Soda Springs on our way up and had natural soda water... interesting.

  • Set up camp in the rain.

  • Shopped, shopped, and shopped.

  • Went to the most disgusting burger place. ever. They cooked in front of us... let me just say I'm glad I don't normally watch people cook my food.

  • Went to Mormon Row... a beautiful view of the Tetons with the bonus of awesome old barns.

  • Saw a shoot out and went to the Family Saloon connected to the Playhouse. It was a cute little saloon and we got to sit on saddles. The best part? The malts... mm mmm good. :)

  • Celebrated Mom and Dad's anniversary at Smith's.

  • Went canoeing... then showered. Ah, best feeling ever.

  • Saw plenty of buffalo.

  • One word: Cowboys.

  • Went white water river rafting (boy, was that an experience)... and missed the Big Kahuna.

  • Saw a huge moose in our campsite.

  • Saw a Harry Potter tent.

  • Met with my entire family on my Mom's side to see the Bar-T-5!

  • Went to the Bar-T-5 and met my awesome relatives who own the chuck wagon. We rode in wagons, ate dinner, and watched a fun show. Then talked to all our relatives afterwards. It was so much fun meeting and getting to know family. One of my 2nd cousins, Trevin, is so cute. He's 8 and he already knows how to get the ladies. This is what he told me, "How old are you?" I said 17. "You're beautiful." Aw, thanks Trevon! "If you're older than 13 you're beautiful, and if you're younger than 13 you're cute." So what are you if you're 13? "Mmmmm... bute." Hahaha! Such a cute kid!!

  • Went the morning after the chuck wagon to see all 60+ horses at the Bar-T-5. Awesome. :)

  • Drove for hours and hours.

  • Had shakes at Arctic Circle.

  • Had a blast of a time with my family.
(Sorry for the weird bullets, I don't know what's wrong with Blogger...)

Good Times

On Tuesday, Melissa and I went down to Provo to hang out with David and Matthew. And goodness, when don't I have a good time with those people? They are so awesome and the time flies by so fast with them. There was, of course, endless laughter and a little mischief. Here's a little taste of what we did:
Pet alpacas and goats

Went on a zipline Matthew made for his brother's birthday. How awesome is that?!

{Cute little red barn by the zip line}

Looked at Barbara pictures. I don't think I should explain this one. ;) We also had a Banana Passion drink, created by David. It consisted of water, ice, a bendy straw, and a slice of a banana on the edge of the cup. It was quite enjoyable.
Attempted geocaching with a GPS that didn't work... so we climbed the best climbing tree EVER.

Amazingly found a geocache!!! This was found after going up the stairs of doom, and passing the snake and spiders of doom. But don't worry, on the way back we went down the stairs of triumph, and passed the snake and spiders of triumph.

Attempted to climb a bowry, but got too scared. Matthew, however, had no fear.

Became, "King of the Rock."

Had a contest to see who could keep their feet in the freezing stream the longest. Then made a Barbara raft. We're going to make a business and become famous.

Floated Barbara down the stream; under bridges, into barriers, through rapids, and under the fence into someone's yard.

Ran through sprinklers and got soaked. Then found a creepy jail-looking building.

Cleaned up the evidence of our mischief and made a pact that goes somewhat like this:
1. Find out Barbara's last name.
2. Give the Barbara pictures to Barbara.
3. Attend Barbara's funeral... if possible.
(I know it sounds weird, but I promise we're not creeps.)

I laugh so much when I'm with these guys. I just hope we get together again soon because they're going off to be big college boys. But what a great way to wind down the summer days. We had a blast.
